De beslissing is genomen we hebbben unaniem besloten ons volgende mannen weekend te gaan houden in Ierland. Wij gaan daar een stuk van de Wicklow Way lopen in de Wicklow Mountains vlak onder Dublin.
De Wicklow Way is een gemarkeerde wandelroute van 130 km, deze wandelreis van zo’n 80 km begint in het vlakkere zuiden en loopt naar het bergachtige (tot 650 m) noorden tot net onder Dublin. Gezien de lengte van de route en ons beperk aantal dagen willen wij de laatste 3 dagen van de route gaan lopen. Per dag wandelen we 19 tot 22 km, met hoogteverschillen van 250 tot 600 m. De wandeling is afwisselend over heuvelachtige platteland, landweggetjes, ruige bergen, bospaden, en parklandschap.
Langs de Wicklow Way komen wij weinig tot geen dorpjes tegen dus we zijn afhankelijk van het proviant wat we mee gaan nenemen. Volg onze voorbereidingen en planning op deze site.
